God’s Law of Cause and Effect

A Christian’s life is never a life of chance. It is the result of believing and following God’s Word. There is absolute predictability, a certain, attainable outcome that is available to everyone. If you do not understand these principles, then life may seem uncertain. Everything in this world that we see and everything that happens to us is the result of some cause. All else is the effect. God created the world, plants, animals, and they are all part of a divine order, an intelligent plan. The good and the bad that happens to us is not without cause.

For Christians following the Lord, all things will work together for good for those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose. A lack of understanding may lead us to believe that good things and bad things may be random. Matt 4:45 – God causes the rain to fall on the evil and the good because He is a merciful God. Sometimes the cause of good or bad may not be immediately discernible, e.g. Job. The cause that brings blessing or cursing can be found in our own actions, and we cannot blame others for it. We are accountable for the choices that we make. See Proverbs 26:2, 28:27, Exodus 15:26, Deuteronomy 28. If we obey the Lord, the blessing will overtake us. Blessings are not static but dynamic.

We are blessed so that we can bless others. Joshua 1:7-9 – ‘You will prosper wherever you go… for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go’. Psalms 1, Proverbs 1:20-23. God promises that He will lift us up and exalt us in due time, and nothing can stop God’s will. See Proverbs 2:1-12, God preserves the way of His godly ones, He is a shield to those who walk in integrity…” An example of a successful blessed and useful man was Joshua 24:14-15 “…As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Timothy 4:6-8 “… I (Paul) have fought the good fight…there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness…” Let us strive to be a living example of God’s blessing!
