Investing in god’s kingdom
By Jim Durkin
The church’s Vision is to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. A vision, when translated into action, propels the church forward.
When people join a church, the leadership has the opportunity to invest their time, lives and hearts into these members, resulting in growth. The whole process of investing in the kingdom of God will produce growth in our families, spirits, emotions, money and other areas of our lives, this is illustrated in Deuteronomy 28:2-13, every promise from the Word of God that you invest in will come to pass and take place in your life.
If the first fruit is holy, the lump is also holy, and if the root is holy, so are the branches, Romans 11:16, this scripture, literally refers to dough, reference Numbers 15:18. It also refers to the tithe. When we pay of the first fruits, the rest becomes holy. God views the tithe as holy and when we look at our lives through God’s eyes, we begin to see everything in it as holy. We come into alignment with God’s Vision, and we use our resources for His purpose. He begins to show us how to use money, how to invest it and how to bless others with it.
Money tends to remove us from a deep understanding of God as the source of everything. However, when we believe, confess and act that our money is holy and we are a holy people, then we will sense the presence of God in our spending decisions, and we will see it returned to us in marvellous ways.
This principle applies to larger investment decisions in our Christian spiritual lives. For example, a person to be married would pray that God would send the right person to invest in their spouse and treat their marriage as holy. Similarly, we invest in our children and other ventures that would allow growth for the kingdom of God.
Jesus said the seed falls on hard ground, rocky ground, thorny ground and good ground, which yields 30-100-fold. Therefore, we need to persevere in our kingdom investments because these plants will eventually grow up and feed us.
